what this is

ok, real talk.

Most photographers will tell you they capture moments. That is true and also kind of the bare minimum.

Here is what we actually do.

We get to love on people. On one of the best days of their lives so far, we get to show up and take care of them – carry things for them, literally and figuratively, be the calm in the middle of whatever chaos decides to show up. We get this inside look into the life of a couple and their favorite people, and for that whole day we get wrapped up into it. Like another aunt. Like a best friend’s older sister. Like the older sister they never knew they needed.

We build inside jokes with your people during formals. We learn which grandpa needs five minutes of extra patience and which bridesmaid is going to keep everyone laughing. We bring your food to the table so you can hug your guests without worrying about your dress. We fix your bustle. We change your shoes when the heels become unbearable. We carry your calm – and your lipgloss.

And yeah, we have cameras in our hands the whole time. That part matters too. But if you asked us which part we love the most – honestly, it is the people. Always the people.

And here is the thing I do not say enough: when we go a few weeks without a wedding, I miss it desperately. It is like I am compelled to do this. Even on the days I second-guess whether I am any good at it – I show up, and something switches on in my soul. And I am in the moment and doing what I love most: serving people.

Which is a weird way of saying it since I am not religious at all. But it is true.

Trailing green leafy houseplant with glossy variegated leaves and a soft shadow beneath it.

We’re Kate and Josh.

Kate has been behind a camera since 1997. She is also a certified wedding coordinator, a classically trained singer, a former marketing VP, an ADHD-powered threat assessment machine, and the person who will show up to your wedding 30 minutes early with everything you forgot you needed. She runs on coffee, true crime podcasts, and a Deathly Hallows tattoo on her wrist – a reminder that the stories we love can outlast our feelings about the people who wrote them.

Josh is the reason we do weddings. That is its own story – but the short version is that he made a plan behind Kate’s back, volunteered her as tribute for a wedding in Oregon, and five minutes in she knew this was her calling. He has been right about things before she knows they are right ever since.

He is also the king of candids. The tear at the exact right second. The belly laugh so real you can feel it through the screen. The moment nobody else knew was happening. Kate finds the good later when she is editing his photos. It is still the best surprise every time.

Between the two of us: one plans, one flows. One talks, one watches. One manages the timeline, one finds the moment the timeline breaks and makes it look intentional. We have been doing this together long enough that we communicate without words across a room full of 200 people.

We arrive at your wedding looking like we are going into battle. Tactical gear, camera harnesses, Hermione bags that are bigger on the inside than they look. People comment that we look like we are going to war. They are not wrong about the preparation part.

Not because the numbers are the point.

But because 650+ weddings means we have seen almost every version of almost everything — and your wedding day is not where we figure things out.

We find the things you didn't know were happening.

At one wedding, I watched the bride’s parents reach out and hold fingertips with each other — a small, subconscious thing, completely unrehearsed. Later that same day, I watched the bride and groom do the exact same thing. Same gesture. Same quiet instinct.

I photographed both.

Because that is a legacy of love already living out through a daughter’s relationship. That is the kind of tiny magic most people never see — and it is the thing we are always watching for.

That is what documentary, Story-First photography actually means. Not just capturing what happens. Catching what is happening underneath it.

Even the wind holds still for moments like these.

the honor of it

Being chosen is not something we take lightly.

Every couple who books us made a choice. They looked at their wedding day – the thing they have been dreaming about and planning for months or years – and they said: we want these people in the room for it.

We do not take that for granted. Not once. Not after 650+ weddings.

It is an honor every single time. And we show up like it.

We made the process simple on purpose. Planning a wedding is already a lot. From your first inquiry to the moment your gallery lands in your inbox, every step is designed to keep you informed, comfortable, and confident that you made the right call.

This is just the beginning.

Some of our past couples fly in from other states for their family sessions now. One family drives six hours from Spokane every Christmas. They have been coming back for six years. Past couples show up at our 4th of July party every year, with their kids, and stay until Josh’s fireworks show ends and the lawn catches fire.

The wedding is just how we meet.

What comes after is up to you – but the door is open and we are genuinely hoping you come back through it.

Some couples become clients. Some become family. We are always hoping for the second one.

simple and straightforward

Full transparency, no hidden add-ons, no "starting at" that means nothing. This is what it costs.

not including taxes, of course.

Eloping?

We have a 2 hour minimum for most elopements, starting at $500/hr for 1 photographer and digital images with print rights.

We book limited weddings each year on purpose. The kind of presence we bring to a wedding day requires us to actually be present — not everywhere at once.

If your date is available, reach out. Tell us about your people. Tell us the inside jokes and the family dynamics and the moments you most want to exist in photographs forever.

We will show up like it is an honor.

Because it is.

FAQ

Frequently Ask Questions

12 to 18 months is the comfortable window. That said, we do sometimes have shorter-notice dates open - especially mid-week and off-season - and we don't believe in scarcity-based pressure. If your date is closer in, check our availability calendar before assuming it's too late.

Yes. Most Washington State weddings don't have travel fees. We've photographed in 100+ Snohomish County venues but we're also active across Seattle, Kitsap, Skagit, Whatcom, San Juans, and beyond. Outside Washington, we travel anywhere in the United States. Ask us - we'll send a custom quote.

Reach out through the contact form or availability calendar. We'll schedule a quick call (or coffee, if you're local) to talk through your day and what you're looking for. No pressure to book, no sales pitch - just a conversation so we can both find out if we're the right team for each other.

Yes. Our Journey Package is wedding-day photography only - no engagement session included. If you've already done one, or you don't want one, Journey is built for you. Engagement sessions are completely optional and we'll never push you toward one.

Kate has been photographing since 1997. Josh started in 2011. We've photographed 640+ weddings together across more than 15 years, specifically in the Seattle and Snohomish County area.

That's not a number for its own sake. It means when your timeline runs 20 minutes late, when clouds roll in over your outdoor ceremony, or when your reception venue is lit exclusively by Edison bulbs and bad overhead lighting - we've been there. Hundreds of times. We know exactly what to do.

As a husband-and-wife team, we also bring something no two-photographer strangers can replicate. We communicate without words, we read rooms together, and we move through your day as a unit. Field experience doesn't just produce better photos - it protects your whole day experience.

Honestly, you'll know pretty quickly. If you've read this far and thought "okay, these people feel like mine" - trust that. We're built for couples who want their wedding day to feel like themselves, not like a magazine spread. Couples who want a team that shows up - not just with cameras, but as timeline-holders, veil-fixers, granola-bar-deliverers, and two people who will absolutely tear up at your first look.

We're not the right fit for everyone, and that's okay - we'll tell you honestly if we're not. But if you want two people who'll show up early, stay late, cry at the first look, and keep the timeline running gently in the background, that's us.

That's exactly what we do.

In Snohomish County in 2026, full-day wedding photography typically runs $3,000 to $10,000+. Most couples working with an experienced, full-time photographer invest between $4,500 and $8,000.

What changes the number: hours of coverage, one or two photographers, years of experience, editing style, and what's included (prints, albums, second photographers, travel). Washington state sales tax of about 8.5-10.5% applies on top.

GSquared starts at $4,500 for nine hours of two-photographer coverage with all your digital images and full print rights. Nothing hidden. No surprise upsells. No tier where you have to choose which parts of your wedding day get photographed.

For a full breakdown, read our Snohomish County wedding photography pricing guide.

Documentary, story-first. In plain English: we're capturing what's actually happening on your wedding day, not directing it. The candid laugh in the middle of vows. The flower girl losing it during the recessional. Your dad's face when he sees you for the first time. That's the work.

We do guided posing (in other words, show & tell) for portraits because most people aren't trained models and a little direction helps everyone feel comfortable, but the rest of the day is yours.

Our editing is true to life. We call it Color Integrity. Your skin tone stays your skin tone. The colors you chose stay the colors you chose. Five, ten, twenty years from now, your wedding photos will still feel like your wedding - because we weren't editing for a trend.

Testimonials

Real couples. Real words. No edits.

380+ five-star reviews. The words that come up most often are not ‘beautiful photos’ or ‘professional’ – they are family, calm, safe, knew, noticed, fixed, love, again.

We think those words tell you more about what we actually do than anything we could write here.

Kate and Josh are phenomenal. If there’s anything you will take away from choosing them to be your wedding photographers, it’s this: They will capture every special moment on your wedding day that when you look back at your wedding years down the road, you won’t wonder if you remembered it correctly. Because Kate and Josh were and are right there to ensure it’s captured just as you’d remember it. But photography is not just what you’d get from them. Kate is very prepared to handle so many random factors that could occur day of. Need to bustle your dress really quick? Kate’s right there to do it. Button from your coat jacket fell off? Kate will expertly fix it. Have an idea in your head for photos that you can’t quite put into words? Kate and Josh will help bring it to life. Plus they got our sneak peeks to us by the next day! Truly, Kate and Josh are a great team and very personable. You can tell that they are cohesive partners who just “get it.” And despite only having a few meetings and a full day with them, we felt very comfortable with them and felt that they truly want to get to know your story as a couple. They also work amazingly with our wedding coordinator and videographers. We loved GSquared and we’re certain you’d love them too. Also, if you do go with GSquared, they provide you with a questionnaire for who you’d like to have group photos with, which is so very helpful day of your wedding so that you can ensure you get those group photos with your guests.

We cannot recommend Kate and Josh from G-Squared Wedding Photography enough! They are incredibly talented photographers, and our photos turned out absolutely beautiful. They are professional, efficient, and somehow make taking hundreds of pictures feel effortless. They know exactly how to pose people and do an amazing job working with all kinds of personalities—which, let’s be honest, is a huge skill when it comes to wedding parties and family photos! One moment perfectly sums up Kate’s dedication. While she was taking my getting-ready photos, she was moving quickly to stay out of the videographers’ way when one of her light stands hit a ceiling light. The entire light fixture fell and landed directly on top of her head. It had to have hurt, but she barely reacted and just kept working like nothing had happened. We were all much more concerned than she was! Her professionalism and commitment were honestly incredible. Beyond taking amazing photos, Kate and Josh made our entire wedding day run so much smoother. They weren’t just photographers—they were constantly looking for ways to help. Kate brought us drinks, removed a stain from my wedding dress, glued my necklace so it would stay in place for photos, had extra bobby pins for my daughter’s hair, carried my lip gloss and slippers throughout the day, helped transport supplies to the venue, and was always asking what else she could do to make things easier for us. Kate was also an incredible resource throughout the planning process. She offered helpful timeline suggestions, guidance on engagement photo outfits, family photo templates, and so many little tips that made the day feel organized and stress-free. She truly went above and beyond every expectation we had for a wedding photographer and, honestly, could double as an amazing day-of coordinator. If you’re looking for photographers who not only deliver stunning images but also genuinely care about making your wedding day the best it can be, Kate and Josh are the team to hire. They exceeded every expectation we had, and we would recommend them to anyone without hesitation. 10/10!

Kate and Josh were truly the best photographers we could have ever asked for! From the moment they arrived, they made us feel completely taken care of and supported throughout the entire day. Weddings can be overwhelming at times, but they were such a calming presence and helped us stay relaxed and present so we could enjoy every moment. Kate was the ultimate hype girl! She constantly made sure I was feeling confident, comfortable, and beautiful, and she always knew exactly what to say to make me smile. Josh was equally incredible with my husband. He made him feel at ease, kept him laughing, and made taking photos feel completely natural. One of the things we appreciated most was how quickly they felt like friends instead of just photographers. It genuinely felt like we’d known them for years. They blended in so effortlessly with our family and friends while still capturing every important moment. They created such a fun, relaxed atmosphere that made being in front of the camera easy and enjoyable. To top it all off, Kate even joined us on the dance floor for a bit, which perfectly sums up how much she invested herself in making our day special. They both went above and beyond in every possible way, and it was obvious how much they genuinely cared about us and our wedding. Now that we’ve received our sneak peeks, we’re even more blown away. They captured every emotion, every little detail, and all of the moments we’ll cherish forever. We truly couldn’t have asked for a better photography team. If you’re looking for photographers who are incredibly talented, kind, professional, and who will make you feel like you’re spending your wedding day with close friends, we cannot recommend GSquared Photography enough. Hiring Kate and Josh was one of the best decisions we made for our wedding, and we will forever be grateful for the memories they captured!

ate and Josh were truly one of the best vendors we could have ever hired for our wedding, and I am so thankful we were introduced to them! We also had them do our engagement photos, which was a great introduction prior to just meeting on the wedding day. Both the engagement and wedding photos turned out amazing! Kate and Josh shot such a variety of poses and emotions, as well as many candid photos. Looking back on the photos helped us relieve the entire day, which is so needed since the day goes by so fast! The edited photos were sent to us digitally within a very short amount of time as well. Besides being extremely happy with our photos, Kate was also very informative in recommending other vendors and providing helpful suggestions during the wedding-planning process. Both of them were so funny and helped calm the stress of the day. Like all of the other reviews say, Kate is extremely organized and made sure everything ran smoothly at our wedding (even though she was hired for just taking photos!) She worked so hard to make sure everything was perfect! Having a 2-person team of photographers at our wedding was extremely helpful in order to capture every meaningful moment, as well as two different perspectives of the same shot. Some of my favorite photos are the ones of us reading our vows – photos from behind the bride, showing the groom’s emotions, and vice versa. This wouldn’t have been able to be done with just one photographer! The two of them truly went above and beyond what they were hired for, to ensure this was the most special day for us. From helping set up, to making sure the timeline was running smoothly, they had a vital role in all aspects of our wedding. You will be so thrilled if you choose to hire GSquared!
