Jewel-Toned PNW Wedding | Lookout Lodge Snohomish

This couple is the perfect kind of adorable. They way he looks at her, the way she talks about him. Their inside jokes. Their love of the outdoors – making this incredible PNW wedding just right for them… rain and all.

Family gathered together to make this day beautiful – so much of their decor and details were DIY’d by friends and family of the couple. Part of Cori’s family even came here all the way from Austria to celebrate with them – it was very emotional and sweet. I’m sure you’re ready for the gushy fun stuff – and today we have a treat, Marcus, the groom is the one telling the proposal story! Read on…

How did the two of you meet?
How we met: (the short version) He liked her face. She liked his face. They matched. It’s all history after that.
How we met: (the slightly wordier version) We met how many millennials meet now a days, with a dating app (specifically Bumble). The unique feature for this dating app is they require the women to make the first contact, which supposedly allows less “spam” for the ladies. Therefore I was the one to have to make the first move, with some extremely witty and charming message I may add. I liked Marcus from the get go! (What’s not to like (have you seen those blue eyes?!?!). Once we matched, we soon realized how much we had in common, specifically our love of off-beat country music, IPA’s, and our constant overuse of emoji’s 😀 Our first date was at the “Stumbling Monk”. Marcus drove ALL the way to Capitol Hill to meet me (extremely worth it- he says). Not only did we have an instant connection but the conversation flowed with an ease I had never experienced before. Even now, on our 342nd date, I am constantly reminded how lucky I am to have Bumbled into the man of my dreams.

How did the proposal happen?
(Marcus): I bought the ring in Portland Oregon while we were at the Winter Ale Festival. I made sure that Cori was properly tipsy beforehand so my disappearance would go unnoticed. The entire time looking at different rings I was texting pictures to Bri and Shannon (maid of honor and bridesmaid) asking for advice. They were at the festival too so they were being very discreet hiding it from Cori. Once I found the perfect one I had my Uncle Bill bring the ring up to Washington for me. Cori prides herself in being an amateur detective, so I had to throw her off of the scent from the proposal. After all Christmas and New Year’s Eve were right around the corner and everybody knows that is proposal season. I did this by taking her out to a fancy restaurant she had been begging to go to for months. Well I did not drop to one knee that evening and she was disappointed (well she actually pouted quite a bit). On New Year’s Eve (2017) around 3pm I suggested that we should stroll down to Fremont brewery for a pint. We go out for a pint here and there all of the time so this was very routine for us. On the way there I suggested that we should stop by Gas Works Park because it was on the way. I had already contacted a friend who was a photographer to capture the entire moment. We walked up to the top of the hill at the park and while Cori was talking about how beautiful the Seattle skyline was I dropped to one knee and asked her, “important question…will you marry me?” Simply put she let out a mix of a cry, a yelp and a scream. Somewhere in there was definitely a yes though! We did not go to Fremont but we did go back home and popped the top off of a Don Perignon to celebrate.

Why did you choose the Lookout Lodge as the venue for your PNW Wedding?
We loved the venue because of the style. We love how much it showcases the beauty of the PNW. We love the trees and the view of the mountain as we stand for our vows. We also loved amount space for yard games (The groom, Marcus, is an avid Cornhole player). The venue really connected to who we are as a couple and our love for the wonderful state we call home.

Are there any DIY projects or special things in your wedding?
We have so many amazingly crafty and helpful people in our wedding and we will have a punch of handmade and special items around the venue. Homemade Cornhole Set (Jurell-Best Man) as well as Homemade Jenga set (Ryan-cousin of bride). The cake is being made by one of the bridesmaids (Katie) and our invitations to the wedding were handmade by Shannon (bridesmaid). The floral arrangements will be done by the grooms Aunt Rhonda. We will also have a special area designated for those who are not able to attend the wedding. The grooms uncle (Uncle Bill) passed away a few months ago and this was especially hard as he was supposed to be officiating the wedding. The brides uncle also passed away this year and we will have an area dedicated to their memories with artwork of and from them.

What inspired the clothing choices for your PNW wedding?
The fall is our favorite time of year and I wanted to choose colors that really resemble the changing of the season.

If we ran in to you on a relaxed weekend, what would you be doing?
We would be playing yard games with friends, relaxing at a brewery, getting some sunshine out by the water.

  • You may have noticed something new around here. As we align our brands - @gsquaredwedding and @gsquaredsessions we felt that this best match for who we are as people. The mountain is one we see daily out our front windows - Mt Pilchuck. And the star - we both love stargazing and find a special magic in the stars (and the moon!). We are so excited to be rolling out the new GSquared just in time for @mysnohomishwedding Tour on May 31.
