Backyard Brews | Black Diamond Garden Wedding

It was a beautiful day for a Black Diamond Garden wedding.

As usual, we feel the story is best told by the couple. Our bride, Amy, took a few moments to tell us some insider details.

How did the two of you meet?
We met on Tinder! It was my first date ever with someone I met online, we can’t say the same for him haha

Tell me all the awesome proposal details.
We were on a family vacation in Nashville- I (Amy) grew up listening to Elvis and my mom has always wanted to visit Graceland. We decided to make a family trip out of it- my parents, brother, sister in law and nephew came and Edwards brother, brothers girlfriend, two aunts and uncles also came! We had just spent the day with his aunts and uncles and were walking around town with my parents, little did I know that my parents knew it was coming! We were at Lola’s cafe outside if the Ryman Auditorium and we were getting ready to leave when he asked if I needed to use the restroom. I thought that was super weird but I did actually have to go. Apparently when I was in the restroom my parents asked him when he was going to ask me and he said, “right now.” When I got back he pulled out the ring and asked if I would marry him. My response was, “Oh goddammit. Yes!”
We then met up with the rest of the family to celebrate!

Is there a special reason you chose Black Diamond Gardens for your wedding venue?
Honestly we chose our venue because of the number of people we were inviting. There aren’t a lot of places that fit over 250 people BUT a cool story behind the venue is that my sister in law used to live there. When she was little her parents owned the property and you can even see her handprint in the concrete of the main building! I didn’t find this out until we had already scheduled a visit but the history is very cool!

Is there a theme to your Black Diamond Garden wedding?
Beer themed- table decorations will be growlers & glittered beer bottles with flowers. Thank you gifts will be little bags of Pub Mix and we are having boutonnières & corsages made with hops in them, tables names will all be beer names that are a fav of ours.

Are there any DIY elements to the day?
My family is growing the flowers, I’ll be glittering the bottles for decor, making a Mr & Mrs sign from 6 pack cardboard packaging; we are using wildflowers grown by my family so the bouquet is being put together by my aunt.

If we ran in to you on a relaxed weekend, what would you be doing?
We’d be at a Sounders game, grabbing dinner and drinks somewhere or enjoying quiet time at home.

  • Are we pet/dog friendly??

I'll answer that with a quick personal share, because I know a few people like photos of our pups :)

These are the newest two in our dog pack of 4: Bear (rottsky, 10mo) and Indigo Grey (heeler, 13mo).

They are the best exercise and editing buddies (Bear likes to just lean on my legs and watch, Indie prefers to get in my chair if I get up and actually "help" by trying to use the keyboard. She turned a whole session green once.)

Between them and the personalities of our other 2 (a 6yo black lab and our 2yo grand pup who is a toy mini Aussie) we have a lot of experience with a ton of the different energy levels and personalities that dogs can have.

That means we have the patience (and the love of puppy kisses) to thoroughly enjoy sessions and weddings with dogs. ❤️

Wedding Planning Overwhelming?

SNOHOMISH WASHINGTON
OPEN TO TRAVEL WITHIN THE UNITED STATES

How long have you been a Snohomish Wedding Photographer?

Kate has been photographing since 1997 and Josh started in 2011. We started photographing weddings together then.

Josh and Kate of GSquared Weddings have photographed over 643 weddings together across more than 15 years — specifically in the Seattle and Snohomish County area. That’s not a flex for its own sake. It means that when your timeline runs 20 minutes late, when the clouds roll in over your outdoor ceremony, or when your reception venue is lit exclusively by Edison bulbs and bad overhead lighting, we’ve been there. Hundreds of times. And we know exactly what to do.

As a husband and wife team, we also bring something no two-photographer strangers can replicate — we communicate without words, we read a room together, and we move through your day as a unit. A Snohomish wedding photographer with genuine field experience doesn’t just take better photos — they protect your entire day experience. That’s what 643+ weddings actually buys you.

How do I know GSquared Weddings is the right Snohomish wedding photography team for us?

Honestly? You’ll know pretty fast. If you read through our work and our words and thought these people get it — trust that instinct.

We’re built for couples who want their day to feel like themselves, not a performance. Couples who want a team that genuinely shows up — not just with cameras, but as timeline wranglers, veil fixers, chaos calm-ers, and two people who will absolutely tear up at your first look. We’ve spent 15 years and 643+ weddings earning the trust of couples across Seattle and Snohomish County, and our approach has never changed: protect your vision, protect your experience, and keep your messy, beautiful, real love story safe.

If you’re looking for heavily staged, ultra-polished, everybody-stand-still photography — we’re probably not your people, and we’ll tell you that honestly. But if you want someone to be there for all of it, exactly as it happens? That’s exactly what we do.

What is your photography style, and will my Snohomish wedding photos look natural or overly edited?

At GSquared Weddings, our photography style is rooted in one core belief: real is always better than perfect. We shoot in a documentary-editorial style — meaning we’re capturing what’s actually happening, not directing a magazine spread. Candid tears, windblown hair, belly laughs mid-vow, the flower girl losing it in the corner — that’s what we’re after.

Our editing is clean, timeless, and true to life. We don’t chase trendy presets or heavy filters that will feel dated in five years. What you see in our galleries is what actually happened that day — the light, the color, the emotion — preserved honestly. Your Snohomish wedding photos will look like you, not like a template.

What does wedding photography cost in Snohomish County?

Wedding photography in Snohomish County typically ranges from $3,000 to $10,000+ for full-day coverage in 2026. Most couples working with an experienced, full-time professional invest between $4,500 and $8,000. Pricing depends on hours of coverage, number of photographers, experience level, editing style, and deliverables. Washington state sales tax of approximately 8.5–10.5% also applies.

GSquared starts at $4500 for a 9 hour, two photographer, all digital images with print rights package. No hidden charges, no sacrificing parts of your wedding day because of budget.
