Green Gates at Flowing Lake Wedding

This wedding at Green Gates at Flowing Lake was the first time we’ve ever photographed at the venue and we fell in love – and completely understood why Sebastian & Kerry chose it for their wedding.

Sebastian and Kerry have an adorable MeetCute. In their own words:

KERRY

I was flying home to visit my parents in Seattle. Living in New York at the time, I was very much looking forward to seeing friends and family back on the west coast. After boarding the pilot announced a slight delay until takeoff. That would have been fine, except the plane was only taking me to San Francisco where there was already a short window of time before my connecting flight would depart. Attendants assured me and the other passengers connecting to Seattle that the plane would be held for us. When the flight touched down in San Francisco I rushed to my gate only to be informed by an uncaring attendant that the plane had left the terminal. Miffed, I sat down next to an older woman with the same flight path to wait for the next flight and commiserate.

SEBASTIAN

I was headed home to Seattle at the end of a work trip in San Francisco. As I threaded my way through the flow of people, I spotted my terminal and noticed a girl having a conversation with the attendant at the counter. She did not seem happy. When she turned away and walked back to her seat, I remember seeing her lips pursed and eyes rolled up in exasperation. In that moment I was immediately on her side, sympathetic to whatever airport tragedy had befallen her. I also saw that she was very pretty. There was an empty seat on her right, so I gathered up my courage, walked over, and sat down.

Sebastian had no idea how to start a conversation. Kerry was talking to a lady on her left, so he eavesdropped. He learned that they’d arrived on the same connecting flight, and the lady was excitedly saying that Robert Redford had also been on the plane. His shock when she responded, “who is Robert Redford?” was immediately subsumed by clarity. This was his golden opportunity. He blurted, “you don’t know who Robert Redford is??”

The Proposal Story
We talked about getting married ahead of time and designed an engagement ring together. We went on a weekend trip to Seabeck and stayed in a little Airbnb by the ocean. Kerry didn’t officially know Sebastian would propose but suspected as much. We cooked a nice meal together that we ate outside looking out at the ocean. Near sunset Sebastian proposed. We were both quite nervous even though we had already designed a ring together!

Why did you choose Green Gates at Flowing Lake as your wedding venue?
The water is prominently visible. Living close to the water has always been important to us.
We could tell that a lot of personal care and love went into making this venue what it is today. We appreciate all the authenticity and unique spaces that the venue holds.
Kerry also really liked that they provide a “pinterest closet” of previous weddings decor that has been left so that things can be reused.

If we ran into you on a weekend off, what would you be doing?
Hanging out with friends outside if it’s nice out (probably drinking beer in the sun), playing video games on our couch if it’s not.

SNOHOMISH WASHINGTON
OPEN TO TRAVEL WITHIN THE UNITED STATES

How long have you been a Snohomish Wedding Photographer?

Kate has been photographing since 1997 and Josh started in 2011. We started photographing weddings together then.

Josh and Kate of GSquared Weddings have photographed over 643 weddings together across more than 15 years — specifically in the Seattle and Snohomish County area. That’s not a flex for its own sake. It means that when your timeline runs 20 minutes late, when the clouds roll in over your outdoor ceremony, or when your reception venue is lit exclusively by Edison bulbs and bad overhead lighting, we’ve been there. Hundreds of times. And we know exactly what to do.

As a husband and wife team, we also bring something no two-photographer strangers can replicate — we communicate without words, we read a room together, and we move through your day as a unit. A Snohomish wedding photographer with genuine field experience doesn’t just take better photos — they protect your entire day experience. That’s what 643+ weddings actually buys you.

How do I know GSquared Weddings is the right Snohomish wedding photography team for us?

Honestly? You’ll know pretty fast. If you read through our work and our words and thought these people get it — trust that instinct.

We’re built for couples who want their day to feel like themselves, not a performance. Couples who want a team that genuinely shows up — not just with cameras, but as timeline wranglers, veil fixers, chaos calm-ers, and two people who will absolutely tear up at your first look. We’ve spent 15 years and 643+ weddings earning the trust of couples across Seattle and Snohomish County, and our approach has never changed: protect your vision, protect your experience, and keep your messy, beautiful, real love story safe.

If you’re looking for heavily staged, ultra-polished, everybody-stand-still photography — we’re probably not your people, and we’ll tell you that honestly. But if you want someone to be there for all of it, exactly as it happens? That’s exactly what we do.

What is your photography style, and will my Snohomish wedding photos look natural or overly edited?

At GSquared Weddings, our photography style is rooted in one core belief: real is always better than perfect. We shoot in a documentary-editorial style — meaning we’re capturing what’s actually happening, not directing a magazine spread. Candid tears, windblown hair, belly laughs mid-vow, the flower girl losing it in the corner — that’s what we’re after.

Our editing is clean, timeless, and true to life. We don’t chase trendy presets or heavy filters that will feel dated in five years. What you see in our galleries is what actually happened that day — the light, the color, the emotion — preserved honestly. Your Snohomish wedding photos will look like you, not like a template.
