Vows & Volleyball | Lookout Lodge Outdoor Wedding

Volleyball, volleyball is what brings us together, today.

Actually, it’s what brought Kathy Lee & Matt to booking the Lookout Lodge for their outdoor wedding.  We’ll let them tell you all the fun details.

How did the two of you meet?
We met in college. We both went to Willamette University in Salem, Oregon. Matt played football and Kathy Lee played volleyball. We were best friends first and then eventually started dating. Our friend group is still very close and they are all in our wedding!

Tell us about the proposal.
Matt took Kathy Lee to Golden Gardens beach in Seattle on a sunny day in February (sunny, but still very cold!). Looking out at the water and then Matt got down on one knee, pulled out a beautiful ring, and asked Kathy Lee “Will you marry me?” She said yes, they kissed, took a selfie, and then went to Fremont to get a beer!

Why did you choose the Lookout Lodge for your venue?
We knew we wanted to get married outside. The beautiful views and sand volleyball court really sealed the deal for us!

Are there any special or DIY elements to your outdoor wedding?
The bridal party intros will be set out near the ceremony entrance. Otherwise the centerpieces are all DIY. Each table is assigned a band that we have seen in concert together and the DJ will play a song by the band to indicate when that table can get in the buffet line.

Our officiant will ask both sets of parents to “welcome the bride/groom into their family” as opposed to just asking the bride’s father “who gives this woman away”. During our first kiss, we are having the DJ to play “This Magic Moment” from The Sandlot.

On a relaxed weekend, where would we find you?
Most likely at either a brewery or winery doing a tasting flight.
